Bio/Research Summary:

Grant Austin is the Founder and President of the Institute of Green Professionals, the first education, research, credentialing and philanthropic blended-value organization for sustainability professionals - architects, engineers, land planners, landscape architects, real property valuers, CRS leaders, accountants, and environmental attorneys. Mr. Austin is acting as the lead researcher and course developer in cooperation with sustainability academics at Harvard, Rice University, University of Pennsylvania, University of New Mexico, McGill University, College of Charleston, and MIT. He is an adjunct professor of real estate at both Florida Atlantic University and University of St. Thomas and serves on the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors EU Advisory Group on Sustainable Property Investment and Management. Mr. Austin received a Hons. B.A in psychology (summa cum laude) from York University and a M.Sc. in Real Estate Appraisal from the Univeristy of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His professional designations are the MAI from the Appraisal Institute, the MMRS from the Market Research Society and the MRICS from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has served on government, university and private advisory boards and many committees, both nationally and internationally. He is best known for being the originator of the theoretical link between the use of Contgent Valuation, survey methods and real property valuation and land economics theory.

Primary interest related to sustainability: Development of graduate-level education and research on sustainability, advancing the foundations of emergence theory, and interdisciplinary studies in sustainability.
