Bio/Research Summary:

Keith Pezzoli received his Ph.D. in urban and regional planning from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990.  Since then, he has been the Director of Field Research and a Lecturer in the Urban Studies and Planning Program at the University of California, San Diego. He teaches courses on research methods, sustainable development, cities and globalization.

Pezzoli’s research and writing focuses on regional ecology, environmental management systems, sustainability science, new biology and research translation, science communication and regional information systems.

Pezzoli teaches courses about research methods, city-regions, ecology and globalization for UCSD’s Urban Studies and Planning Program. He also serves as the Principal Investigator of Research Translation and Community Outreach for UCSD’s Superfund Research Program, which includes scientists from ten departments and centers across several of UCSD’s academic divisions. Off Campus, Dr. Pezzoli directs the Global Action Research Center—a not-for-profit organization that supports community-based participatory research aimed at creating sustainable and healthy communities. One of Dr. Pezzoli’s projects was featured in a UCSD-TV documentary (November 2009). It highlights how diverse organizations are working together to deal with mounting urban-ecological problems along the U.S.- Mexico border.
