List of Activities at the WPSC 2006, Mexico City
During the World Planning School Congress (WPSC2) in Mexico City, July 11-16, 2006, a group of colleagues will come together to discuss the prospects of creating cyberinfrastructure for progressive regionalism and Global Planning Grids. We have organized a panel, roundtable, and (in collaboration with the Worldwide Universities Network) a focus group meeting. These discussions are open; and all WPSC2 participants are most welcome to join in. Key details and links are copied below:
WUN World Planning
WPSC2, Mexico City attendees from the WUN partnership, and all other interested participants, are invited to meet immediately after the Roundtable: ‘The Global Planning Grid Initiative: Defining the agenda, partnerships, participating city-regions and next steps’ on Saturday July 15th, 4:30pm – 6:00pm in the Monterrey room to discuss future collaboration. The agenda for the meeting includes an introduction to the WUN network, global research activities in the realm of cyberinfrastructure development, and opportunities for global collaboration with international partners.
WUN Global Exchange Programme
The Global Exchange Programme continues to grow in significance with well over 500 awards made. There have been some very clear benefits arising from the scheme; departmental links have widened and deepened and new relationships have formed between departments.
World Planning Schools Congress 2 Roundtable
The Global Planning Grid Initiative
Saturday, July 15, 2006, 3:00pm – 4:30pm, Monterrey Room
Mexico City, Mexico
US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), International Affairs Office, has generously agreed to support this roundtable and the write-up of our discussion (including postings to the GPEIG web site). HUD’s international exchanges (in coordination with the Department’s Office of Policy Development and Research) include diverse bilateral (e.g. Canada and Mexico) and multilateral (e.g. UN and OECD) programs concerning issues in housing policy, housing finance, urban development, and the environment. Dr. Alven Lam of HUD has an interest in our efforts to build a Global Planning Grid in support of improving urban and regional development worldwide.
Worldwide Universities Network
Annual Meeting 2006
General Briefing Pack
Research proposals have been developed and students have developed effective academic networks. Finally, and very importantly, the programme has introduced a wider academic community to WUN and the benefits of WUN membership.
